Hello! My name is Karen, and I’m the proud owner of Holalu. Fashion has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I was obsessed with fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle. I would cut out designer ads and model pictures and put them on my wall for inspiration.
My fashion philosophy is simple: a wardrobe should be timeless, versatile, and above all, functional. When I was a student, I learned the value of investing in timeless and basic pieces that I could wear year after year. I would mix these with a few trendy items to create a fresh look without breaking the bank. I also gained valuable experience working in a clothing store, learning how collections were created and how the business operated.
Once I graduated as a web designer, I managed to balance a full-time job with a fashion blog. Like many fashion bloggers, I was lured by the appeal of trendy items at unbelievable prices from fast fashion retailers and ended up making a purchase from them. However, my excitement soon turned into disappointment when I received poor quality items that were about to fall apart after sitting in my closet. This experience fuelled my determination to open my own boutique, one that could offer reliable and high-quality items without any additional taxes or duties, and above all, a store that I could call my own.
When the pandemic hit and I also became a new mom, I took a step back to reflect on what I wanted to do with my life. That’s when I realized that I had the passion, drive, and motivation to make my dream a reality. Holalu was born from my desire to provide stylish yet fully functional wardrobes for all women who want to look their best year-round.
